TOMS RIVER, N.J. – A Jackson Township man accused of fatally shooting a 28-year-old woman earlier this month will remain behind bars until trial after consenting to detention in Ocean County Jail, prosecutors announced.
Shaquille Green, 29, appeared September 18 before retired Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, temporarily assigned on recall, and agreed to remain detained while awaiting trial. Green is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the September 6 death of Toraya Reid, 28, also of Jackson Township.
Naz Reid’s sister, Toraya Reid, was fatally shot at a New Jersey apartment complex on September 6, 2025, and her boyfriend, Shaquille Green, has been charged with murder. Police found Toraya Reid, 28, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds near the Paragon apartment complex in Jackson Township. Green, who had a romantic relationship with Reid, was taken into custody shortly after officers saw him fleeing the scene. He faces murder and weapon charges.
The detention request was handled by Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Gregory Lenzi.
Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer emphasized that the charges are accusations at this stage, and that Green is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
