Manassas Police Investigating Reckless Firearm Discharge Following Theft Incident

MANASSAS, Va. — Police are searching for a man who fired a shot into the air after being confronted about a theft early Wednesday morning in the Forest Park Mobile Community.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 3:33 a.m. on September 11 in the 7800 block of Tayloe Drive. According to police, an unknown man had stolen a pair of sunglasses from an unlocked vehicle. When a witness confronted the suspect, he fled to a waiting grey sedan. Before leaving the area, the suspect fired a round into the air. No injuries or property damage were reported.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on the front and dark-colored pants.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities.
