Manchester township officer retires after 24 years of decorated service

MANCHESTER, N.J. — Patrolman Arthur Cronk retired from the Manchester Township Police Department last week, concluding a 24-year career marked by distinguished service and community involvement.

Cronk joined the department in 2001 and earned numerous awards over his tenure, including two Life Saving Awards, two Meritorious Service Awards, and the Chief’s Recognition Award. He also received two Valor Awards from the 200 Club of Ocean County, most recently in 2025.

“Having served his fellow officers, this agency, and the residents of Manchester Township with integrity and pride, Ptl. Cronk leaves behind an exemplary law enforcement career,” said Chief Antonio Ellis.

Known for his personable demeanor, Cronk frequently earned letters of appreciation from residents and helped lead the Manchester Police Youth Academy as a Drill Instructor. He was also active in the Police Unity Tour, starting in 2007, and currently serves as an Alternate Delegate for Chapter 10’s National Board.

Within the Manchester Township PBA #246, Cronk served as Delegate since 2012 and contributed to several key internal committees. He was honored as Member of the Year in 2016.
