MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A shed fire on Riverside Drive prompted a swift response from the Manchester Township Police Department and multiple fire companies on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at approximately 9:40 pm. Upon their arrival, police officers found the shed fully engulfed in flames and immediately evacuated all occupants of an adjacent residence to ensure their safety.
The collaborative efforts between the Manchester Township Communications Division and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division facilitated the quick dispatch of several fire companies to the scene. The fire was successfully extinguished, preventing more extensive damage to nearby properties.
One resident was transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation by Manchester Emergency Medical Services. The adjacent residence suffered damage to its exterior siding, which was not deemed extensive.
The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation and determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. The Manchester Township Police Department expressed their gratitude to all responding units, including Manchester, Ridgeway, and Whiting Volunteer Fire Companies, Berkeley Emergency Medical Services, and Jersey Central Power & Light for their crucial roles in managing the incident and ensuring public safety.
