New York City, NY – The New York City Police Department has announced charges against two of its own officers, Czech Wojciech and Warren Golden.
Both officers have been suspended without pay.
Czech Wojciech, a 44-year-old male who has served with the NYPD for nearly 20 years, has been charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. The charges stem from an investigation into allegations that he stole valuable items during an arrest.
Warren Golden, a 31-year-old male who has been with the NYPD for three years, has been charged with official misconduct. The charges relate to an internal investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct by the officer while on duty.
According to Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the two were part of a group that stole $3,000 worth of champagne from VIP guests at the Electric Zoo Festival in September.
Bragg’s office said the two officers took several bottles of champagne valued at $1,500 per bottle from a table inside the VIP area.

A third officer who was not involved in the theft, failed to report the incident or stop the theft, prosecutors allege.
The officers were stopped by event security, who found the bottles in their possession. They are also accused of drinking while on duty.
