Manhattan Store Turns $1 Ticket Into lottery Windfall

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — A Take 5 Evening ticket worth $27,458 was sold in Manhattan for Saturday night’s drawing, according to the New York Lottery.

The winning ticket was purchased at 43rd News & Smoke Shop, located at 153 East 43rd Street. Take 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39, with drawings held twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Winners have up to one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. Lottery officials noted the retailer earns a commission for selling the top-prize ticket.

The New York Lottery reported contributing $3.8 billion in the most recent fiscal year to support public schools across the state.
