Manhunt underway after fatal shooting in DC apartment

Man wanted in deadly domestic shooting in Northeast DC apartment

Washington, DC – Homicide detectives are searching for a 39-year-old man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Allen Shropshire, who was found dead inside a Northeast DC apartment in July.

The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Friday, July 18, when Fourth District officers responded to a report of a fight at an apartment in the 100 block of Fort Drive NE. Officers discovered Shropshire, 41, inside the residence with an unknown injury. Despite emergency life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The next day, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound and ruled the death a homicide.

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have identified Solaiman Richardson, 39, as the suspect in the case. He is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder While Armed. Investigators confirmed that the case is domestic in nature.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to Richardson’s arrest and conviction. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to call (202) 727-9099 or text the MPD’s anonymous tip line at 50411.
