Mansfield Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

MANSFIELD, OH – A fatal shooting that occurred last Tuesday night on the 800 block of Brookfield Drive is currently under investigation by Mansfield Police Detectives. Jason Antrican, 42, of Mansfield, was pronounced dead at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following the incident, while a second individual sustained injuries from gunshot wounds.

The Mansfield Division of Police and its Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene at approximately 8:20 p.m., after receiving numerous calls about shots fired and a person down in a hallway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two gunshot victims, both of whom were transported to a local hospital. Richland County Coroner’s Investigator Tom Stortz confirmed that Antrican’s body will be transported to Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Witnesses at the scene informed the police that a group of individuals fled the scene post-incident. Residents of the apartment complex reported hearing several gunshots, with one caller estimating a total of 10 shots fired.

Another caller, sheltering in an apartment, reported a man shot in the hallway and asked the dispatchers to send an ambulance, citing ongoing danger.
