Marshals Capture Man Wanted for Assault Against 4-Year-Old in North Jersey

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – The United States Marshal Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 35-year-old Jose Romero on Monday.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that the arrest was connected to the sexual assault of a 4-year-old boy.

Romero, a resident of Union City, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault, a first-degree crime, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a third-degree crime.

Romero and the victim are not related, but Romero resides in a home the victim frequents.

Romero was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a Detention Motion for Romero, tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 4.
