Maryland Man Hid Shotgun Under Baby’s Crib, Police Report After Shooting Incident

TANEYTOWN, MD – An allegedly suicidal man who hid a shotgun and ammo beneath his toddler’s crib is facing multiple charges after an incident unfolded in Taneytown. Officers responded to gunshots on Roth Avenue Sunday night and discovered an armed suspect involved in a domestic incident on Chestnut Court.

Upon arrival, authorities encountered the man walking out of a residence, where he revealed his suicidal intentions, stating he had fired the gun to end his life. The man disclosed the shotgun’s location under the child’s bed, leading to the discovery of an Akdal Arms LLC 12-gauge pump shotgun in a cardboard box beneath the crib.

Police also found a detachable 30-round magazine for a SKS on the living room couch.

The man, previously convicted of a weapons offense, had a Norenco SKS rifle with a drum magazine carrying 68 rounds, 23 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition, and a Tokarev Silah Sanayl 12-gauge shotgun.
