Maryland man hits jackpot weeks after $31K score

Eastern Shore man hits $39K Racetrax prize just weeks after $31K win

CENTREVILLE, MD – A Queen Anne’s County resident is riding a serious hot streak after scoring a $39,969 win playing Racetrax, marking his second major cash-out from the Maryland Lottery’s animated horse racing game in just two months.

The longtime player claimed his latest prize on Aug. 28 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, just weeks after winning $31,521 from the same game on June 30. Both tickets were purchased at the Citgo gas station located at 426 South Commerce Street in Centreville.

The player used a Trifecta Wheel style bet—a complex wager format—and selected horse 11 to finish first, horse 5 second, and either horse 10 or 12 to take third. The betting style paid off once again.

“I usually play 20 races, then follow the results on my phone,” the man said during his visit to claim the prize. He also revealed he had another winning ticket in his pocket—this one for a smaller amount—ready to cash on his way home.

For selling the winning ticket, the Centreville Citgo received a $399.69 retailer bonus, which equals 1% of the total prize.
