Maryland restaurant server wins $50,000 on scratch-off ticket

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A restaurant server in Washington County is celebrating a $50,000 win from the Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off game.

The woman, who regularly plays scratch-offs, purchased four tickets at High’s in Hagerstown before work. After scratching three non-winning tickets in her car after her shift, she scanned the fourth ticket with the Lottery app and received an unusual message instructing her to check with a retailer.

“I didn’t think it was a winner,” she said. But upon closer inspection, she saw that the number 15 matched, revealing a $50,000 prize. She drove to another retailer to confirm the win and, upon verification, began celebrating in the store.

The longtime Lottery player, whose previous top prize was $500, shared the news with close family and friends. She has yet to decide how to spend her winnings but mentioned a possible vacation.

The MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off, part of a Maryland Lottery MONOPOLY game series, launched in January and includes a second-chance promotion running through July.
