Maryland State Police Issue 130 Tickets During Workzone Safety Detail

MARYLAND – In a recent statewide initiative, Maryland State Police troopers from six barracks conducted work zone safety operations. The participating barracks included JFK Memorial Highway, Golden Ring, Forestville, Cumberland, Berlin, and Hagerstown.

The focus of these initiatives was to enforce traffic laws in work zones, ensuring the safety of both workers and drivers. As a result, troopers issued a total of 130 citations and warnings. Additionally, one arrest was made for suspected DUI.

The Maryland State Police emphasized the importance of cautious driving in work zones, highlighting the minimal margin for error and the significant risks posed to workers and other motorists. They urged drivers to slow down and move over, reminding them that these are not just safety tips, but legal requirements. This campaign underscores the commitment of Maryland State Police to road safety and the protection of those working on Maryland’s roads.
