TOMS RIVER, NJ – Rabbi Moshe Gourarie lit a large Menorah outside Toms River Township town hall on Sunday to start the Hanukah holiday. Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill presided over the celebration that marked the start of Hannukah.
Hill was joined by Brick Township Assemblyman John Catalano and other local dignitaries, including the Toms River Jewish Community Council.
A Menorah parade made its way from Riverwood Park to Downtown Toms River with cars adorned with Menorahs. The parade was hosted by Rabbi Gourarie and the Toms River Chabad. The Chabad also hosted a “Gelt Drop”, as chocolate coins reigned down upon the children who attended, according to an email from Gourarie.
