Memphis Woman Arrested in Texas for Murder and Abuse of Two-Year-Old Child

MEMPHIS, TN—Sharday Bakare was arrested in Glenn Heights, Texas, by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) on charges of murder, aggravated child neglect, and aggravated child abuse stemming from the death of a two-year-old boy in Memphis.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) initially responded to an emergency call on September 4, 2023, on the 2600 block of Margot Street, where they discovered the child unresponsive with signs of trauma. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, the child later succumbed to his injuries.

Following an extensive investigation, MPD issued a warrant for Bakare’s arrest on May 14, 2024. The USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis subsequently tracked her to Texas with the aid of the USMS North Texas Fugitive Task Force.
