MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — The Middletown School District is reminding parents that it has adopted a 2-hour delayed opening model on inclement weather days.

The policy allows maintenance crews and the Township’s Department of Public Works additional time to clear and treat roads, parking lots, and sidewalks for safer travel. It also provides time for temperatures to rise, improving overall conditions.

Officials noted that most neighboring districts use a similar delay model, which helps staff members with school-aged children manage their schedules. The approach aims to minimize full-day closures while ensuring student and staff safety.
