Minerva ticket turns into massive scratch-off payday

MINERVA, OH — A Minerva resident is celebrating a $20,000 lottery win after playing the Ohio Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game.

The winning ticket was purchased at Woodlawn Food Market, located at 1910 Woodlawn Avenue NW in Canton. After federal and state taxes totaling 28 percent, the winner will receive $14,400.

VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off offering a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years. As of May 23, 35 top prizes remain in circulation, along with thousands of additional cash awards ranging from $100 to $50,000.

The win adds to a growing list of VIP Millions prizes being claimed across Ohio, as the game continues to be a popular choice among high-stakes lottery players.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education statewide.
