TULSA, OK – A Tulsa, Oklahoma mother has been arrested and charged weeks after she was caught by police hosting a baby shower for her 12-year-old daughter. The father of the baby, Juan Miranda-Jara was arrested at the time. Today, police announced charges against the child’s mother.
“A few weeks ago, we told you about the arrest of 24-year-old Juan Miranda-Jara. He was arrested for 1st Degree Rape after a 12-year-old girl gave birth to his child in a midtown hospital,” the Tulsa Police Department said.
The ongoing investigation revealed that the victim’s mother and family members were aware of the relationship between the victim and Miranda-Jara.
“The family permitted the relationship, and there are photos of the family throwing a baby shower for the victim and the suspect,” the department said in a statement. “We can now say that the 12-year-old’s mother, Desiree Castaneda, has been arrested and charged with:- Enabling Child Sex Abuse- Child NeglectThe victim’s father is currently in prison serving a 12 year sentence for 1st Degree Rape, unrelated to this case.”
