Morning Shooting Investigated Near Lumberton High School

LUMBERTON, N.C. – Early Friday morning, Lumberton police received reports of shots fired near Deacons Road.

On arriving at the Forest Ridge Apartments parking lot, officers found a man with gunshot wounds lying beside a car.

The injured man was rushed to the hospital and remains in serious condition.

The incident, which occurred less than a mile from Lumberton High School, prompted precautionary lockdown measures at the school. These measures have since been lifted.

Lumberton Police are currently investigating the shooting and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Ed Strickland.
