Mother Charged for 5-Year-Old Daughter’s Drug Overdose Death

SPRINGDALE BOROUGH, PA – Samantha McMunn, 34, has been charged in connection with the death of her 5-year-old daughter.

On June 13, at 8:44 a.m., Springdale Borough Police and paramedics responded to a distress call and found the child unresponsive.

She was later pronounced dead at Children’s Hospital.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be acute methadone toxicity. During the investigation, it was revealed that McMunn stored methadone doses inside the residence.

McMunn turned herself in and is charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.
