Multi-Agency Task Force Arrests Final Suspect in Utica Double Shooting

UTICA, NY – Following a double shooting on Whitesboro St on January 1, 2024, a joint task force has successfully apprehended the third and final suspect. William Brooks, 31, of Staten Island, was arrested in a coordinated operation by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which included members from the Utica Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, and Oneida County Probation.

Prior to Brooks’ arrest, two other male suspects involved in the shooting were located and apprehended without incident by the Task Force. Brooks, who was on the run from parole in Staten Island, was found at a residence in Utica. The Task Force executed a strategic entry into the location, leading to Brooks’ arrest without confrontation.

Upon his arrest, Brooks was transported to the Utica Police Department. An investigator with the Major Crimes Unit charged him with Attempted Assault in the first degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degre
