NUTLEY, NJ – Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo have reported a series of early morning burglary attempts in Nutley.

An attempted break-in on Whitford Avenue was thwarted by a resident who activated his vehicle alarm, causing the intruders to flee. Shortly after, the same suspects entered an unlocked home on Grant Avenue and stole a pocketbook.

The incidents, occurring around 3:00 AM, are part of a trend where thieves target homes to steal vehicle keys.

Petracco and Strumolo ask residents to adopt preventive measures like locking doors and vehicles, installing alarm systems, and using surveillance and motion detector systems.

Nutley Police are actively pursuing leads and request anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact them at 973-284-4940.
