Multiple people struck by lightning in South Seaside Park

SOUTH SEASIDE PARK, NJ – Multiple people have been struck by lightning in South Seaside Park near the 21st Avenue Beach entrance. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time. It has been reported that between four and six people were injured, some with life-threatening injuries. The incident happened on the Berkeley Township side of the beach. Berkeley Police responded.

NBC News reported one lifeguard was killed and six other beachgoers were struck and injured.
