Multiple shooters spray DC street killing Massachusetts man, wounding two others

Washington, DC — A Massachusetts man died and two others were wounded after multiple gunmen fired indiscriminately at a group in Northwest DC Monday night, police announced Wednesday.

The shooting happened at approximately 10:28 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of 7th Street, Northwest. Officers responding to gunfire found three victims suffering from bullet wounds: an unconscious adult male, along with an adult woman and a 16-year-old boy who were both conscious.

Emergency personnel transported all three to nearby hospitals. On Tuesday, the adult male victim, identified as 21-year-old Eric Tarpinian-Jachym of Granby, Massachusetts, died from his injuries.

Investigators determined the gunmen exited a vehicle at the intersection of 7th and M Streets, Northwest, and began shooting at the group. Detectives recovered the suspects’ vehicle but have not yet identified or arrested the perpetrators.

Police said preliminary findings suggest Tarpinian-Jachym was not the intended target of the shooting, but did not release further information about possible motives.

MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to arrests and convictions in homicides. Authorities urge anyone with knowledge of this incident to call (202) 727-9099 or send anonymous tips via text to 50411.
