N.J. Natural Gas: Ask for I.D. of Utility Workers

HOWELL – New Jersey Natural Gas reminds its customers to always ask to see identification of any utility worker that visits a home or business to do work. With reports of people falsely representing themselves as utility workers, NJNG says its employees always carry photo identification, as do contractors working on behalf of the gas company.

If an individual is approached from someone claiming to represent NJNG, ask to see their identification. People may call NJNG’s Customer Services department at 800-221-0051 if the situation seems suspicious.

The company operates more than 7,000 miles of natural gas transportation lines that serve more than 500,000 customers in six counties, including Ocean County.
