New Brunswick pastor charged with sexual assault and child endangerment

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — A New Brunswick pastor has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, officials announced Monday. Roby D. Cruz-Hernandez, 61, of Somerset, was arrested following an investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Brunswick Police Department.

Detectives began investigating Cruz-Hernandez on August 28, 2024, after receiving allegations that he had sexually assaulted a juvenile victim. Cruz-Hernandez, a pastor at Iglesia Pentecostal El Mesias, was arrested at his home in Somerset without incident.

He has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
