New Castle man arrested in Amazon delivery center stabbing

BEAR, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested a New Castle man accused of stabbing a co-worker at an Amazon delivery center last month, leaving the victim with serious injuries.

Troopers said the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Aug. 28 at the Amazon facility on Bear Corbitt Road. A 23-year-old man was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers provided first aid until medics arrived, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital.

Detectives identified Taamir Smith, 35, of New Castle, as the suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained, and on Sept. 23, members of the Delaware State Police and U.S. Marshals located Smith near 24th Street in Wilmington. He was taken into custody without incident.

Smith has been charged with first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $200,000 cash bond.
