New Haven Police Cruisers Struck During Shooting Investigation

NEW HAVEN, CT – Early Sunday morning, New Haven officers were drawn to the sound of gunshots near Chapel Street, around the vicinity of Temple and College streets.

As officers approached the scene around 2:30 a.m., they encountered a sizable crowd dispersing and an erratic vehicle driving against traffic.

In an attempt to halt the vehicle, it collided with two police cruisers at the intersection of College Street and George Street.

The vehicle’s occupants attempted to flee; while a passenger was apprehended, the driver evaded capture. Subsequently, a juvenile with a gunshot wound to the leg was admitted to a hospital, their injuries being non-fatal.

At present, the connection between the vehicle and the shooting remains uncertain. Those with relevant information are asked to contact the police.
