New jersey commuter report: multiple crashes reported causing delays

Traffic conditions across New Jersey are significantly impacted this morning due to various incidents and heavy volume, causing delays for many commuters throughout New Jersey.

Earlier today at 7:47 AM, a crash involving injuries and a downed traffic signal occurred on NJ 35 northbound just north of CR 650/Chain-O-Hills Rd in Woodbridge Township, resulting in the closure of the right lane.

Another collision was reported at 7:18 AM on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway southbound, south of Interchange 7A – I-195 in Hamilton Township, blocking the left lane.

A jack-knifed tractor trailer on I-80 is responsible for a backup in the area. The incident, which took place early at 5:48 AM, has led to the closure of all eastbound local lanes from Exit 65—Green St in Hackensack. This has caused significant disruption to the flow of traffic, compounding the already congested morning commute.

There are extensive delays due to volume in several areas.

Significant congestion has been reported on the Garden State Parkway, where delays stretch for miles.

As of 7:36 AM, there was a 2 1/2 mile delay southbound from south of Exit 136 – Stiles St in Clark Township to the north of Colonia Service Area in Woodbridge Township. In another part of the parkway, northbound traffic from north of Exit 148 – John F Kennedy Dr North to Larry Doby Service Area in Bloomfield was delayed over four miles as of 7:28 AM.

These delays are exacerbated by conditions similar to those on major arteries like the New Jersey Turnpike, where the eastern and western spurs experience delays due to high traffic volume. For instance, the eastern spur northbound from south of Interchange 15E – US 1&9 in Newark to north of Interchange 15W – I-280 in Kearny had a two-mile delay as of 8:02 AM. Similarly, the western spur northbound was delayed by two miles from south of Interchange 15E – US 1&9 in Newark to north of Interchange 15W – I-280 in Kearny as of 8:03 AM.

Commuters are advised to allow extra time for travel or seek alternative routes where possible to avoid delays. The multiple incidents and high traffic volumes highlight the unpredictable nature of New Jersey’s road conditions, particularly during the morning rush hour.
