New Jersey Cop Struck by Illegally Passing Motorcyclist During Traffic Stop

CLIFTON, NJ – A Clifton police officer observed a passing vehicle while pulling over a motorcycle on the shoulder of Route 21. The incident happened near the Route 46 interchange at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police arrested Luis Villalba of Paterson was pulled over for passing traffic on the shoulder when Clifton Police Officer George Blkjy initiated the traffic stop. Upon approaching Villalba, he accelerated away from the officer, striking him in the arm and leg.

A second officer initiated a pursuit of Villalba which ended on Route 20 where the suspect’s BMW collided with the center divider. Villalba was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault by auto and eluding.
