TRENTON, NJ – Democrats in New Jersey are seeking to remove what they are calling dehumanizing, insensitive and outdated terms from the state’s laws.
On Monday, Democrats advanced a bill that would replace terms such as “illegal alien” and replace with “foreign national” and “undocumented foreign national” in all existing and future state statutes.
The law would also prevent lawmakers from using the term “illegal alien” instead.
It doesn’t stop there New Jersey. Democrats also want to cease calling incarcerated criminals “inmates”. Instead, to use the term “person who is incarcerated” for prisoners who are serving jailtime for crimes in which they have been convicted.
According to a report this week, New Jersey is home to 475,000 illegal aliens.
According to the bill, it “Replaces references to “alien” and “illegal alien” in statutes with “foreign national” and “undocumented foreign national,” respectively; prohibits use of those terms by executive branch agencies.”
