New Jersey Earthquake Felt in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Delaware, Maryland

TRENTON, NJ – A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck New Jersey early Friday morning, and it was reportedly felt from Boston to Maryland. The quake’s epicenter in Northwest New Jersey was felt hundreds of miles away.

Residents from Massachusetts to Delaware reported the earthquake centered in New Jersey.

Homeowners across Ocean County are reporting a ground-shaking event that began at around 10:23 a.m. on Friday. The rolling and rumbling went on for about five seconds before stopping.

The US Geological Survey has confirmed the quake event was a 4.8 magnitude quake centered in Lebanon, New Jersey.

According to reports on social media, the quake was felt from New York to Maryland.

Earthquakes are rare in New Jersey. Since 2023, New Jersey has had four quakes of magnitudes up to 3.8: 0 quakes above magnitude 3, and 3 quakes between magnitudes 2 and 3.
