New Jersey Man Beat Stepmother to Death with Baseball Bat

CRESSKILL, NJ – John Daniels Jr., 30, was arrested for allegedly killing his stepmother with a baseball bat.

Cresskill Police responded to a 911 call at 151 Stonegate Trail around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. They found Irma Daniels, 48, deceased of blunt force trauma. The suspect was not in the house.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Cresskill Police Department are investigating. The investigation is under the direction of Chief Jason Love of the Prosecutor’s Office and Chief James Domville of the Cresskill Police Department.

Police arrested John Daniels Jr. on Thursday, placing him in jail.

Prosecutors filed a motion for pretrial detention, and a judge ordered him held in jail until a hearing next week.
