New Jersey Man Sentenced for Fatal Assault in Bristol Township

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA – On Wednesday, Daniel Stephen Dietrich, 46, of Palmyra, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including voluntary manslaughter, related to a fatal incident in a McDonald’s parking lot in Bristol Township.

Dietrich received a 12 to 24-year sentence for the February 5, incident where he ran over Jason Smith, 47, of Levittown.

The incident, involving a prior driving dispute and captured on surveillance, showed Dietrich’s aggressive actions leading to Smith’s death.

The investigation, led by Bucks County and Bristol Township Detectives, resulted in Dietrich’s arrest a month later. He was ordered to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, complete anger management, and pay restitution for funeral costs.

Smith died from major blunt force injuries, and Dietrich was found to be driving with a suspended license.
