SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ – Although New Jersey’s state budget is hemorrhaging cash, the Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission wants more.
The commission has proposed amendments to regulations on the maximum fee that can be charged for an amusement game. That fee would double the cost to license each amusement game in New Jersey’s big casinos and small boardwalk and amusement park vendors alike.
The Commission is required to establish the maximum fee that can be charged to play an amusement game. N.J.A.C. 13:3-3.4 sets this fee at $10.00. The proposed amendments would raise this fee to $20.00.
This year, the New Jersey tourism industry is hoping to continue its post-pandemic recovery and it’s not sure how the new fee increase will financially impact small mom and pop operators at the Jersey Shore.
