New Jersey Wrap-Up: Christie Makes Visit to Jersey Shore, Another Earthquake Reported, Another Dead Whale

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Aftershocks from this week’s New Jersey earthquake were reported across New Jersey Wednesday afternoon. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.6 quake was reported at 10:22 am.

This quake follows a 2.5 quake in the same area on Saturday and a series on Friday that started with a 10:23 am 4.8 quake at Whitehouse Station. That quake was followed by a 2.6 aftershock minutes later and a 3.8 quake later that night.

Later that night, in unrelated news, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie visited Jenkinson’s Pavillion in Point Pleasant Beach to attend the 75th annual birthday gala of Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore.

Christie, who has been running a two-year-long roadshow against former President Donald J. Trump attended the event.

On Thursday, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center reported a dead beached humpback whale a few miles south on Long Beach Island.
