Newark Announces Street Closures for Drive-Up Food Distribution

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced street closures scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2023, to facilitate the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event.

Grafton Avenue will be closed to eastbound traffic between Broadway and McCarter Highway from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The food distribution will begin at 11 a.m. and will be located at the intersection of Grafton Avenue and Oraton Street.

Drivers should expect delays and are advised to plan alternate routes during the event’s hours.

Director Fragé expressed thanks for the public’s patience and cooperation. He also encouraged anyone with information regarding criminal activities to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
