Newark Armed Robbery Suspects Sought by Police

NEWARK, NJ – Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects connected to a robbery that took place on September 9. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Jefferson Street and Malvern Street.

A man walking in the area was approached by a blue vehicle. Two male passengers exited the vehicle, and one suspect displayed a handgun while demanding the victim’s belongings. The armed suspect also pistol-whipped the victim after taking his wallet and cell phone.

Director Fragé encourages anyone with information on the suspects to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips received through the Crime Stopper line are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
