Newark Carjacker Who Stole 3-Year-Old With Car Arrested

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Police Department has reported the arrest of Shanita N. Rose, age 40, following a carjacking incident involving a young child.

The event took place on Tuesday, when police were alerted to the theft of a vehicle with a 3-year-old boy inside.

Responding to the 100 block of Wilson Avenue at 8:13 a.m., officers embarked on a search for a 2017 silver Hyundai Sonata.

The situation led to the issuing of an Amber Alert at 9:55 a.m. Subsequently, at approximately 10:30 a.m., police located the vehicle in Jersey City, finding the child safe and unharmed.

Rose now faces serious charges including carjacking, kidnapping, and endangering the welfare of a child. The case remains under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
