Newark gunshot victim hospitalized

NEWARK, NJ – Late Thursday evening, a male victim was hospitalized with a gunshot wound following a shooting on Thomas Street in Newark. The incident occurred near 211 Thomas Street before 10:30 p.m. Police were alerted to the shooting after a ShotSpotter device was activated in the neighborhood.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim suffering from a bullet wound. He was promptly transported to University Hospital for treatment. The severity of his injuries and his current condition remain unknown.

Police did not release the name of the victim. No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
