Newark man charged for burglary, stealing lottery tickets

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara reports that Eli Cid, 44, of Newark has been arrested for burglary when he broke into a convenience store and stole lottery tickets and $600 on September 12, 2021.

Police officers responded to a call about a burglary that took place around 3:40 a.m. at the Downeck Convenience Store located at 19 Pacific Street. As part of the investigation, Cid was identified as the suspect after he was captured on surveillance video breaking the glass door of the store and taking the lottery tickets.

Cid faces charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
