NEWARK, N.J. – Newark police arrested 18 individuals with outstanding warrants in February as part of an ongoing crime reduction effort, Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. announced.

“As always, the goal of the Newark Police Division is to ensure the safety of Newark residents and visitors,” Miranda said. “The most direct and responsible step toward achieving this goal is to ensure that those individuals who have been identified for committing crimes and issued warrants are taken into custody.”

The arrests were carried out by the Newark Fugitive Apprehension Team, S.W.A.T., and University Hospital Medical Services. Officials did not release details on the suspects or the charges they face.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce crime and enhance public safety across the city.
