Newark police investigating armed robbery

NEWARK, NJ – Police in Newark investigating an armed robbery that took place on February 6 have released photos of a suspect wanted in connection with that robbery today.

Fritz G. Fragé, Director of Newark Public Safety, has requested assistance in identifying the male suspect depicted below who was involved in the incident.

The suspect and his male accomplice exited a vehicle in the 400 block of Lafayette Street at approximately 2:20 p.m., approached a male victim, and robbed him at gunpoint of his personal property. The suspect struck the victim before fleeing in the suspect vehicle, which was reported stolen on February 5 and has since been recovered.

According to the police description, the suspect is a Black male, 5’8″ tall, wearing a black Adidas sweatsuit with a hood. A second suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build, wearing dark-colored clothing, and white Jordan sneakers, who is not shown.
