Newark Police say package theft suspect caught on video

NEWARK, NJ – A porch package thief was caught on video according to Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara. The incident happened Thursday and now the department is asking for the public’s help to identify the woman captured in the video.

“A victim reported that an Amazon package, delivered to a residence at Eckert Avenue near Seymour Avenue, was stolen just before 2 p.m. The suspect walked onto the porch, took the package, and fled heading east on Eckert Avenue. The items inside the stolen package are valued at approximately $60.00,” O’Hara said. “Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect as part of their investigation. She is described as a Black female, wearing a black shirt, blue pants, and a black hair bonnet.”
