Newark Police Seek Information on Armed Robbery Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is calling for public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a local Dollar General Store. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 21, at approximately 8:29 AM on the 400 block of Springfield Avenue.

According to the police report, the male suspect entered the store through the rear right-side entrance, claimed to have a handgun, and struck an employee before taking $3,776.33 from the store’s safe. The suspect was last seen exiting through the same entrance and heading north on South 6th Street.

The suspect is described as light-complexioned, about 5’7” tall, weighing around 150 pounds, and was dressed entirely in black, including a full black ski mask and black Nike AirForce sneakers with ankle straps.
