Newark Police Seeking Theft Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in a theft from an auto incident that occurred on the night of April 20. The incident took place around 10 p.m. on Brookdale Avenue near South Orange Avenue.

A work van parked at a residence had its rear window shattered, and several tools were stolen, including two drills, an automatic copper cutter, an HVAC vacuum, and other items. Surveillance footage captured the suspect breaking into the van and removing the tools.

Director Fragé encourages anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Information provided is kept confidential and could lead to a reward.
