NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Authorities in Newport News, are requesting the public’s assistance in solving a recent homicide that occurred on March 24, 2023. Officers were alerted to the sound of gunshots in the 1100 block of 25th Street around 8:30 PM and discovered 59-year-old John Claud outside, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene.

Informants to the Crime Line are never required to testify in court and may qualify for a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest.
