NJ man charged after string of vehicle thefts in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, NJ — An Elizabeth man has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of car burglaries that took place in the early hours of June 29 in the Atlantic Avenue area of Aberdeen Township.

Following an investigation by the Aberdeen Township Police Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Matawan and Spring Lake police departments, Michael Correa-Galeno was identified as the suspect responsible for entering multiple unlocked vehicles and stealing personal belongings.

Correa-Galeno was arrested without incident on Tuesday and charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft, and criminal attempt. He is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending court proceedings.

Police are urging residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to help prevent similar crimes.
