NJ Transit to resume normal weekday operations Wednesday following Portal Bridge cutover schedule

NEWARK, NJNJ Transit announced that it will resume normal weekday operations across most services on Wednesday, February 25, as rail operations continue under the temporary Portal Cutover schedule.

Key Points

  • Bus, Light Rail, and Access Link will run on regular weekday schedules Wednesday.
  • Rail service remains on the Portal Cutover schedule with Midtown Direct trains diverted to Hoboken.
  • Rail tickets are being cross-honored by PATH, NY Waterway, and NJ Transit Bus routes.

Portal Cutover adjustments continue for NJ Transit rail riders

While regular weekday schedules resume for most services, rail commuters will continue to see temporary adjustments tied to the ongoing Portal Bridge cutover project. Midtown Direct trains will be diverted to Hoboken Terminal instead of New York Penn Station.

To assist travelers, NJ Transit is cross-honoring rail tickets and passes on PATH trains to 33rd Street, NY Waterway ferries to Midtown/39th Street, and NJT Bus Route 126. The Atlantic City Rail Line will also operate on a weekday schedule, though buses will replace midday trains.

Regular operations for bus and light rail

NJ Transit’s Bus, Access Link, and Light Rail services are running on standard weekday timetables. Officials encouraged riders to check for updates before traveling, as minor adjustments may occur while the Portal project continues.

Commuters can find the full Portal Cutover schedule, alerts, and real-time updates through the NJ Transit app, My Transit Alerts, and the agency’s social media channels.
