GARFIELD, NJ—An out-of-service NJ Transit train struck a pedestrian early Wednesday near the Plauderville Station in Garfield, causing significant delays. The incident occurred at approximately 5:33 AM just west of the station, officials reported.

The pedestrian’s condition was not immediately known following the accident. NJ Transit announced that the Bergen County Line rail service was temporarily suspended but resumed later in the morning.

Service disruptions led to up to 20-minute delays for commuters on the Bergen County line. Normal operations had recommenced by the time officials issued an update before 8:00 AM.
